The idea behind this came from working in the mobile app space. On Desktop, mobile app companies frequently link to their app stores, which is a blocker for actually downloading the app. TextMeTheApp provided a way to, you guessed it, text the app to the end user.
After contacting mobile app companies, uncovered that this wasn’t a huge problem. It was probably more of a feature than a product itself.
